The second edition of the Cantonal Startup Day, organized by the Economy Division of the Department of Finance and Economic Affairs (DFE), in close collaboration with Fondazione Agire and with the support of BancaStato, was held today at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano, with more than 400 people participating throughout the day.

The event, introduced by State Councillor Christian Vitta, the President of Fondazione Agire Luca Bolzani and the Director of the Economic Development Division of the City of Lugano Pietro Poretti, was a valuable opportunity for the various players in the system to meet in support of innovation. It also made it possible to further strengthen the connection and networking between potential investors and the world of startups, an area that Canton Ticino looks at with particular interest and in which it has already developed a special support strategy in 2017.

The event's program - in the staging of which important players in the system such as USI Startup Centre, Impact Hub Ticino and TiVentures collaborated - included several in-depth moments, mainly dedicated to the contractual aspects of investing in scientifically advanced companies and to support in the search for funding. The startups attending the event were also able to present themselves to the public through two rounds of "pitches" and interact with participants at their booths.

The second Cantonal Startup Day was therefore an opportunity to graft new blood into the system so that this type of young and dynamic entrepreneurship, which is important for fostering the economic growth of Canton Ticino, can emerge and be more highly valued, stimulating innovation and generating relevant effects in terms of employment as well.
