Climathon Mendrisiotto 2021

From 29 to 30 October Climathon 2021 is back in Ticino, taking place at the new SUPSI campus in Mendrisio-Stazione. Agire Foundation is among the supporting partners of the event, which encourages participants - not necessarily coming from the business environment - to adopt an innovative approach in seeking solutions to problems related to environmental sustainability. Agire will actively participate in the event, with the involvement of Director Lorenzo Ambrosini on the jury and of Barbara Pin, head of the startup sector, as a volunteer coach.

 

The Climathon is based on the ideathon model: cities issue a challenge on how to mitigate the negative effects of climate change on their area, or how to prevent them. Citizens, students, entrepreneurs, professionals, and experts take up the challenge and, gathered in small teams, work together for twenty-four hours, with the aim of finding new solutions.

In the 2021 edition, Climathon Mendrisio will be extended to the entire Mendrisiotto region, thanks to the participation of thirteen municipalities. The marathon will be structured into four challenges: the first three aim to prevent the production of waste, while the fourth challenge concerns the management of products after their disposal. The event will begin at 18:00 on Friday, October 29, and will end on the evening of Saturday, October 30 with an aperitif.

The teams that will develop the most promising ideas, evaluated by a jury of experts in the field, including our Director, and representatives of the municipalities, will be awarded financial contributions for a total of 7'000 CHF and access to coaching by USI Startup Centre in order to put their idea into practice, thus having the opportunity to transform it into a startup or a public-private consortium.

Participation is free, but registration via the website is required, as places are limited. Please note: All participants will be required to have a Covid certificate and a mask will be mandatory in all indoor spaces.
