Official launch Switzerland Innovation Park Ticino

Following the recent signing of the association agreement with Park Zurich – together with the Park Central– a press conference was held to officially launch the implementation of Switzerland Innovation Park Ticino, a milestone in the Canton's economic development strategy. Speakers at the conference were State Councillor Christian Vitta, President Luca Bolzani and Director Lorenzo Ambrosini of Agire Foundation, and Enzo Giannini, President of the Swiss Drone Base Camp Association, the first Competence Centre of Innovation Park Ticino that has passed the admission procedure.

The Innovation Park Ticino, organized in Competence Centers and currently located at the Technopole in Manno, aims to create a unique platform for the collaboration of researchers, high-tech companies and start-ups, in order to spark inventive activities, develop and test sustainable and innovative ideas and encourage the knowledge and technology transfer. Ticino is thus positioning itself even more prominently on the international innovation scene, and the benefits for the region will be significant: in addition to direct economic benefits, there will be the creation of new jobs.

Ticino will thus have an additional driving force, thanks to the great potential of the ETH, the Zurich urban area and the industries associated with the Park, as well as being the "gateway" to nearby Northern Italy. As a sign of the concrete nature of this potential, the new MIND innovation district located north of Milan has signed a letter of intent with Agire Foundation for future collaboration and synergies. The plan, starting in 2026, is to locate the Park's headquarters in Bellinzona's Nuovo Quartiere Officine, where 25’000 square meters will be dedicated to the site. This strategic location will significantly reduce distances to the Zurich metropolitan area, while Lugano, with its university campuses, will be just 15 minutes away by train. Eng. Augusto Mitidieri, who comes from the world of industry and has many years of experience in top management positions, has been appointed Executive Director to start the operational work on the Park.
